World Biathle Championships for Tom

Over the last few years Year 10 pupil, Tom Dixon, has represented the school competing in cross country, track and field, swimming, cricket and rugby. Over the recent summer holiday, Tom competed in Biathle.  Biathle is part of the Modern Pentathlon Olympic Programme and is closely linked to his favourite discipline of Triathlon, in that Biathle also consists of a run, swim & run within a single race.

On August 4th Tom achieved 2nd place in the UK Biathle Championship and has been selected to present Great Britain in the World Championships in Florida on October 26th.

Tom is a member of Leicester Sharks Swimming Club (based at LGS), Charnwood Athletics Club, Welland Valley Cycling Club and Ketton Panthers Triathlon team.  Through their support, this summer Tom also achieved National Championship qualifications in Athletics at 1500m and 3000m as well competed in the East Midlands & English Open Water Swimming Championships.  Tom has also now been invited into the East Midlands Triathlon Academy, which is the first step on their Performance Pathway Programme for Elite Athletes.

Congratulations Tom!
