RHS Green Plant It Challenge

On Thursday 13th September, six of our students from year 8 and 9 went to the opening event of the Green Plant It challenge run by the Royal Horticultural Society at Leicester Botanic Gardens. They spent time with a mentor from the horticultural industry and then produced some initial ideas for a garden.

The image shows the poster they produced in 30 minutes at the end of the day. They decided to design a garden as a memorial for World War I. Their poster was awarded a prize for the ideas and they way they presented them.  For instance, they included lots of different types of poppies to illustrate the wide range of people caught up in the war. The name of their group is an anagram of their initials!

They now need to continue working on their ideas over the ten weeks up to Christmas!

Thanks to Dr Ewers for organising and well done to Milly Kotecha, Daniel Sundaram, Erica Faust, Dominic Switzer, Ayaan Akeel and Anupan Cunden.
